ACT Content Areas Workshop

ACT English: A Teacher-Centered and Content-Focused Workshop

This new half-day workshop specifically focuses on the ACT English content test and is designed to address the needs of English Language Arts educators to understand, integrate and blend the ACT English content area into their high school instruction. This workshop keeps a solid design feature of not “adding to the plate”, but to provide the educational practitioner with strategic information about the ACT English test that is usable and impactful.

This workshop is activity-based and content-focused and is designed as professional development for the teacher. The workshop will provide the educator with actual ACT test content to help explain, then integrate into their school’s English content area course offerings.

Learning Objectives

  • Explore the English Test by ACT English Reporting Categories and Depth of Knowledge levels (DOK 1, 2, and 3) through actual ACT test questions aligned to both Reporting Categories and DOK
  • Review your ACT English content area test data to determine areas of strength and opportunity, with a focus on content scores, reporting categories, and individual student level scores

ACT Math: A Teacher-Centered and Content-Focused Workshop

This new half-day workshop specifically focuses on the ACT Math content test and is designed to address the needs of Math educators to understand, integrate and blend the ACT Math test format into their high school instruction. This workshop keeps a solid design feature of not “adding to the plate”, but to provide the educational practitioner with strategic information about the ACT Math test that is usable and impactful.

This workshop is activity-based and content- focused and is designed as professional development for the teacher. The workshop will provide the educator with actual ACT content to help explain, then provide the platform to apply the knowledge and skills learned to increase the connection of the ACT and their school’s Math content area.

Learning Objectives

Explore the Math Test by ACT Reporting Categories, and focused on Depth of Knowledge levels (DOK 1, 2, and 3) through actual ACT test question examples aligned to DOK and the Reporting Categories of Preparing for Higher Math, Integrating Essential Skills and Modeling.

  • Explore the Reading Test by a review of the content of the test, including the ACT Reporting Categories, Depth of Knowledge levels (DOK 1, 2, and 3) and reading passages encountered on the Reading test.
  • Review your ACT Reading test data to determine areas of strength and opportunity, with a focus on Reading content scores, reporting categories, and individual student level scores
